Alice Marie McIntyre, daughter of the late Lonnie and Wilma Louise Wilkins, was born June 5, 1940 in Washington County. She passed on to her eternal rest on October 19, 2016.
She attended Washington County Public Schools and worked numerous jobs in both manufacturing and farm labor to support her family.
Alice attended Bethel Church of Christ, D.O.C. in her early years, and later moved to Mt. Carmel Church of Christ, D.O.C. in Jamesville, NC, where she faithfully worshiped until her health declined. She was an active member who helped lead the lost to Christ. Alice served as an Usher for countless years, and was designated as Mother of the Church.
In her later life, Alice was also an an active member at the Senior Center in Jamesville, NC. She enjoyed vacationing with her family and weekend outings with her daughter.
Alice was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. Alice's presence during life lessons aided her grandchildren in their growth and prosperity. She was a talented cook who enjoyed preparing Southern down home feasts for her family and friends. It was during these times that Alice shared her family's rich history and created the most memorable occasions.
Alice married the late Robert McIntyre in 1958, and to this union, nine children were welcomed into the world. They are: Theresa (Ervin) Reed of Wilson, NC, Bobby (Paula) McIntyre of Jamesville, NC, Rebecca McIntyre of Williamston, NC, Donell McIntyre of Jamesville, NC, Lisa (Alvin) Grimes of Woodbridge, VA, Doressa (Vincent) Bell of Charlotte, NC, Corene (Tony) McIntyre-Lloyd of Robersonville, NC, Viola McIntyre of Jamesville, NC, and Barbara Ann McIntyre, who preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers; Lonnie L. Wilkins "Bo", and William H. Wilkins.
Alice leaves to cherish her memory: seventeen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She is survived by five brothers; Raymond (Doris) Wilkins, Thomas Wilkins, Louis (Rhonda) Wilkins, and Russell S. (Rosa) Wilkins, all of Roper, NC, and James H. Wilkins of Williamston, NC.
Two of Alice's sisters are left to mourn; they are Loraine (Archie) Alexander of Loganville, GA and Catherine (Samuel) Cahoon of Creswell, NC.
She had a special aunt with whom she shared a motherly connection - Elder Dorothy A. Jackson, in addition to many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
