Obituary

Annie Leora Cox was born July 20, 1918 in Roper, NC. She was the daughter of the late Sarah Downing and Ernest Downing, and was the eldest of eight children. On March 26, 2013, Mother Annie Cox was called home to be with the Lord from labor to reward.

Mother Annie Cox married Ernest Lee Cox, Sr. in 1940, who predeceased her in death on August 1, 1994. After the death of her husband she spent six years in their home before relocating to Roanoke Landing and Rehabilitation Center where she remained until her death.

Mother Cox loved the church. She was a member of Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ. Under the leadership of Elder J.S. Spruill, Bishop Leroy Jackson Woolard and the late Elder Mildren L. Wilson, she was a member of the Usher Board, Mother Board, and the Visiting the Sick Committee. She was an avid Sunday School attendee and would become overjoyed with the word and start to shout and praise the Lord as classes were being taught.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons- Ernest Lee Cox, Jr. (Lisa), Montgomery, Ala., Timothy Cox (Mary), Boston, Mass.; two daughters- Annie Louise Currie (Robert), Mount Vernon, NY., Christine Gallman (Avon), Mount Vernon, NY.; sister- Eva Moore, Plymouth, NC., loving niece- Theresa Walker- Plymouth, NC; loving nephew Willie Dudley (Gladys), Bronx, NY., nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held 2:00PM Sunday March 30, 2013 at Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ with Elder Wilbert Jackson, Jr., officiating. Burial followed in Lincoln Memorial Gardens, Roper, NC.
