Obituary

Beulah Ann Baker-Sykes was born in Tarboro, NC on July 16, 1921 to the late Edward and Ada James Baker.  She departed from this life on March 16, 2016 at Roanoke Landing Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Plymouth, NC.

Three sisters, seven brothers and one granddaughter preceded her in death.

She was the third child of six children and attended Martin County Public Schools.  At an early age, she joined Long Ridge Missionary Baptist Church.

Beulah was a hard worker, as well as a devoted and caring wife and mother.  She did domestic work to earn a living and help provide for her family.

Beulah was married to the late Leon Sykes; to their union, one child was born.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her children; Erma Lee Whitaker, Julius Wayne Baker and Joe Louis Baker (Geraldine), all of Plymouth, NC, and Ernestine Meadows of Milwaukee, WI.

Beulah is survived by one sister, Mamie Terrell, and one brother, Julius C. Baker (Mary Ann) both of Milwaukee, WI, as well as nineteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
