Blanche Elizabeth Cherry's Obituary
Blanche Elizabeth Cherry was born September 21, 1945 in Pitt County, to the late Eugene and Gracie Knight. She departed her life on July 28, 2016 at Washington County Hospital in Plymouth, NC.
Blanche was preceded in death by her sons Kenneth and Lorenzo Sanders of Plymouth, NC, her parents Eugene and Gracie Knight, her husband Thomas "Bud" Cherry, sister Sophie Mae Lock, brothers John Henry Clemmons, Kelly Knight, and James Lee Clark.
She attended Pitt County Public Schools and spent most of her working career at Washington County Department of Social Services, committing to custodial work.
In her early years, Blanche accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, fulfilling several auxiliary roles as a dedicated member of Long Ridge Missionary Baptist Church. She was a devout choir member, custodian, and part of the Pastor's Aid Committee. After retirement, she concentrated on taking care of her family, cooking, showing love to all people, and church activities.
Blanche is survived by her daughters Sarah Barnes of Hinesville, GA; Sheila Matthews, Robbin (Leslie) Norman, and Katrina Sanders, all of Plymouth, NC, and Wyconda (Tony) Toon of Goldsboro, NC.
She has one surviving sister, Ada Pearl Knight of Pactolus, NC, thirty-one grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
