Bobby Eugene Goddard, Sr. was born April 26, 1944 in Williamston, NC to the late Vivian Aileen Goddard-Pugh. He was the oldest of six children. He passed away on Tuesday March 10, 2015.
Bobby grew up in a rural area in Martin County known as "Lilley Quarters, aka The Quarters." He was raised in a community in which families worked and played together. It was a community of people who worked the farm, who looked out for each for one another and, in essence, who helped each other in their time of need. This community played a hand in nurturing, shaping, and molding this young man to become the man that he was, a loving caring husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
Bobby attended Rodgers Elementary School in the Rodgers Township area near Williamston. In his late teens, Bobby, along with his best friends would visit Plymouth, where he would eventually meet and fall in love with the love of his life, Deloris Sanders. Bobby and Deloris married on June 28, 1967 and would have been married a total of 48 years in June 2015.
Bobby was baptized at a very early age and again in June 2007 in Jesus Name. In August of 2013 he accepted the calling of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Bobby, sometimes referred to as "Mr. Hop Along" worked at Georgia Pacific as a Heavy Equioment Operator for about 16 years before suffering an injury playing baseball, one of his favorite sports. Throughout the years he enjoyed experimenting with things, fixing stuff, drinking coffee with his friends at "Makin Tracks" and listening to his police scanner to keep track of what was going on.
