Mrs. Carrie Lee Gilliam, age 88, made her peaceful transition into Eternal Life on Sunday, April 19, 2015. Ms. Carrie who also was affectionately called "Kitty" was born, December 8, 1926 in Washington County. She was the daughter of the late Lee and Estelle Walker Carter.
As a young woman Carrie was baptized a member of the Bethel Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ and remained a member until her demise. Carrie was the "ROCK" of the family and every Sunday was Family day at "Mommie House". One of her biggest passion was cooking.
She was predeceased by her Beloved Husband of 56 years, Raymond Gilliam Sr. in 2001; her son Ronald Gilliam in 1982; one daughter, Mary Catherine Wynn in 2015; and four siblings, James Carter, Joe Walker, Essie Mae Carter and Meicia Fayton.
Carrie's memory is everlasting and will be treasured by her three sons, Herbert Simpson, Raymond Gilliam Jr.(Wanda), Christopher John Gilliam (Brenda);five daughters, Doris Williams, Ethel young (Harry, Mary Gallop, Verna Leigh (Elvin), and Lillie Woodley. Also to cherish her legacy is son-in-law, Andrew Wynn of Halifax, Mass. and daughter in-law, Barbara Gilliam of Jamesville, NC: 38 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren, 24 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services were 3:00PM Sunday April 26, 2015 at New Bethel Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) with Bishop Daniel Boston, officiating. Burial followed in New Bethel Church Cemetery.
