Cleanora N. Norman (Chicken), the daughter of the late Maggie Norman Clark, was born March 19, 1926 in Roper, NC. She departed this life on Sunday June 23 2013 at Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton.
Cleanora, also known as "Chicken", was a homemaker that enjoyed her life to the fullest by doing things that she loved like cooking, quilting, making Folk Art, doing crossword puzzles, and collecting horse figurines.
She was married to Thomas Lawrence Norman, Sr. of Roper where they shared a life together for seventy years. She was blessed with six children, one of whom, Thomas Lawrence Norman, Jr., preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband- Thomas Lawrence Norman, Sr.; three sons- Henry Norman- Creswell, NC., Raymond Norman- Washington, NC., Samuel Norman- Roper, NC; two daughters- Mattie Rawls- Columbia, NC., Lucretia Norman- Roper, NC.; nineteen grandchildren, thirty-eight great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law- Diane Simpson; two brothers-in-law- Jimmy Norman and Herman Norman; three special cousins- Rosa Moore, Gladys Mosby, and Annie Polk, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services were held 1:00PM Saturday June 29, 2013 at Shiloh Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) with Vice Bishop Daniel Gilliam, officiating. Burial followed in Shiloh Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
