Curtis Jerome Rodgers was born February 12,1950 to James David Rodgers(deceased)and Emily(Biggs)in the Dardens commmunity near Jamesville, NC. He departed this life on june 13, 2012 in Augusta, Georgia.
Curtis attended the public schools in Martin County and graduated from E.J. Hayes High School in 1968. He later enlisted in the United States Air Force and served four years, including 19 months in DeNang, Vietnam during the Vietnam War. After being honorable discharged from the Air Force, he attended college at Elizabeth City State University where he received a Bachelors of Science in History in 1978. He went on to earn a degree in Law from North Carolina Central University in Durham,NC in 1984.
After graduating fro law school, he started a successful law practivce in Washington County where he practiced law from 1986 to 1998. Due to health concerns, he stopped practicing law full time, but continued to perform marginal legal services.
He is survived by his mother, Emily Rodgers of Jamesville, NC;a loving wife, Geraldine Rodgers of Plymouth,NC;two children: David Rodgers of Baltimore,MD and daughter,Carmen Rodgers of Greensboro,NC;one grandchild,Christopher G.Barnes; four sister; Vivian Birth (Nathaniel) Loretta Carter(Gregory) of Rocky Mount, NC Carolyn Meekins(Rob), Sybil Bishop(Larry) of Jamesville,NC Loretta Carter(Gregory) one brother Carlton Rodgers (Shirley) of Raleigh, NC;and a host of nephews, nieces, others relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held 1:00PM June 20, 2012 at Promiseland Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) with Bishop Daniel Boston officiating and Bishop Anthony Terrell pastor. Burial followed in church cemetery.
