Dallas Winfield Gallop affectionately known as "Bay Bay" was born August 13,1945 to Mable Small Wooten and the late Henry Edward Cherry. He peacefully departed this life and entered into his eternal rest on February 9, 2013 at Roanoke Landing and Rehabilitation Center, Plymouth.

Dallas joined Second Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church (Deep Bottom) at an early age. He was raised in a Christian home and attended Sunday School regularly. Dallas received his education in the public schools of Washington County. Later he relocated to Norfolk, VA where he worked as a chef on the restaurant food service at the Norfolk Naval Base at Oceana for many years.

Dallas married Gloria Jean Rawlings at The Garden of Prayer in Norfolk, VA. under Bishop L.E. Willis, Sr. on March 1, 1969. From this union 2 daughters were born Terri Michelle and Daleliscia Janell. They were married for nearly 44 years.

At an early age, Dallas learned farming by folloeing in his grandfather's footsteps. He enjoyed gardening, landscaping and looking after his neighbors yards. His love of agriculture developed into learning and sharing through North Carolina Agriculture and Technical. He became President of the local Farmers Market and received The Outstanding Small Farmer Award. He was very instrumental with The North Carolina Cooperative Extension Program and 4-H in Washington County. Not only did he grow and sell the vegetables, he would also tell you how to prepare them. He had a natural gift of growing vegetables and raising animals to share with neighbors and friends. Cooking was one of his favorite pastimes. It was nothing for him to fire up the cooker when family and friends would come around. Easter Mondays at Second Zion Grove will not be the same without the "Head Chef". He will be missed by all who knew him. His motto was: "It is more blessed to give than to it was to receive." Acts 20:35.

Dallas leaves to cherish his memories his wife- Gloria Jean Gallop- Plymouth,; daughters- Michele D. Moore- Plymouth, Terri M Gallop- Plymouth, Daleliscia J. Gallop- Plymouth,; mother- Mable S. Wooten- Norfolk, VA.; step brothers- Jerome Cherry- Washington, DC, Terrance Wright- Manhattan, NY., Herbert Jackson, Jr.- Chesapeake, VA., Roland Jackson- Virginia Beach, VA., John Wooten, Jr.; step sisters- Joyce Moore- Plymouth, NC., Lauretta Wooten- Norfolk, VA., Constance Boyd- Richmond,VA., six grandchildren, three gret grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. His father, Henry E. Cherry and brother, Irvin G. Gallop, Sr. preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held 2:00PM Sunday February 17, 2013 at Second Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Hubert Judon officiating. Burial followed in Small Family Cemetery.
