Emma C. Clagon was born on August 24, 1946 to the late James C. Chesson and the late Willie Mae Simpson Norman. She departed this life on February 18, 2013 at Washington County Hospital, Plymouth, NC.
She attended the public schools on Washington County. She joined Mt. Delane Baptist Church and was an active member until her health failed. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, cousin, and friend. She loved her family and was a kind and generous person with a good heart and sense of humor.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband- Alton Clagon, Jr. of the home, sons- Chistopher Chesson- Plymouth, Robert Lee Chesson- Roper, Michael Ray Clagon- Plymouth, Trone Clagon- Greensboro, NC.; daughters- Thomas Ann Chesson- Plymouth, Maria Clagon Garrett- Plymouth,; brothers- James Chesson- Roper, Willliam Chesson- Elizabeth City, NC., Simon Chesson- Roper, Samuel Chesson- Roper, Paul Chesson- Roper, Larry Chesson- Chesapeake, VA., Timothy Chesson- Chesapeake, VA., Haywood Norman, Jr.- Plymouth, David Norman- Elizabeth City, NC., Rev. Ronnie Norman- Windsor, NC., Ricky Norman- Plymouth,; sisters- Dorothy Ayers- Norfolk, VA., Annie Pierce- Hampton, VA., Florence Moser- Hampton, VA., Martha Chesson- Newport News, VA., Mary Chesson- Newport News, VA., Maggie Chesson- Newport News, VA., Evelyn Norman- Plymouth,; thirteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, five sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, two aunts, one uncle, one great aunt, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Three sisters, Julie Yates, Josephine Spruill, Hester Rankins; four brothers, Wade Chesson, Elder Irvin Chesson, James Chesson William Norman, all preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held 2:00PM Saturday February 23, 2013 at Toodle's Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Norman officiating. Burial followed in Founntain of Life Baptist Church Cemetery, Roper.
