Mrs. Gale Cherry Blount was born September 11, 1960 in Plymouth, NC. She was the daughter of the late Arlander Cherry Sr. and Vivian Moore Cherry. She departed this life June 26, 2015 in Washington County Hospital. Gale was raised in Brooklyn, NY where she attended school until her sophomore year of high school. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1978, after which she went directly into the workforce.
Gale's affectionate smile will be remembered by those who visited the local grocery stores as well as those who worked with her at Life Incorporated where she was the Habilitation Coordinator. She was also a faithful member of Long Ridge Missionary Baptist Church until her health failed.
Gale married Berkley Mack Blount on July 26, 1980. To this union they were blessed with one son, Berkley Mack Blount, Jr. Gale was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was family oriented, dedicated, dependable, kind, loving, and always willing to lend a helping hand.
Gale leaves to cherish her memories her devoted husband, Berkley Mack Blount, Sr., son- Berkley Mack Blount, Jr.(Lawanda) of Virginia Beach, VA; one step-daughter, Monisha Grimes of Raleigh, NC; three grandchildren, Layanna Jordan(Victor), Jamal Davis and Daveon Mack Blount; her mother Vivian Cherry; one brother, Arlander Cherry Jr. (Denotra); three sisters, Sharon Cherry of Rene Cherry all Plymouth, NC and Leora Michelle Cherry of Durham, NC; seven sisters-in- law, Constance Collins, Juanita Small (Alphonza), Gloria J. Blount, Charlotte Moore, Marcia Dance, Odessa Moore(Charlie), and Diana Blount; seven brothers-in-law, Bennie Blount Jr.(Annette), Timothy Blount(Wilhelmina), Tony Blount(Dorothy), Ricky Blount, Vincent Blount, Alpheus Blount(Juanita),and Scottie Blount (Monique); two special friends who were like sisters, Belinda William and Shelia Hyman Reynolds; one adopted daughter, Delores LaShay Rahman; one godson, Marvin Andre Hyman; two dear friends, Willa Mae Ambrose and Shirley Keyes; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Arlander Cherry, Sr.
Funeral services were 2:00PM Friday July 3, 2015 at Long Ridge Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. General James, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in Moore Family Cemetery, McNair Road.
