George Moore, Jr. was born July 29, 1932, the third eldest of thirteen children born to George T. Moore and Thurma H. Boston-Moore. After being ill for a sustained period of time, he was called to his eternal rest on February 28, 2014.
George accepted God as his Savior at an early age and continued to serve Him for the rest of his life. He married Lannie James in 1957, and to their union, five cherished children were born. George and Lannie spent fifty-seven years together as husband and wife; they loved each other so very much.
Although he did not have a formal education, he did have a great degree of knowledge about life and love. George was employed with the Department of Transportation in Plymouth, NC for many years. He was disabled at a fairly young age, but never lost his unwavering faith that God would see him through whatever life sent his way.
George possessed uncanny artistic abilities; if he saw it, he could duplicate it, even making improvements along the way. He made extraordinary art creations from his own imagination and design, some of which have been displayed in various venues and prominently in many homes.
Our dearly departed George is survived by his beloved wife, Lannie Moore of the home; son Anthony Moore, and daughter Stephanie Moore, both of Raleigh, NC; daughter Laura Boyd (Walter) of Aurora, NC; daughter Joscie Barnes (Christopher) of Bowie, MD; and son Derrick Moore of Raleigh, NC.
He also leaves to mourn, his brothers; Meredith Moore of Willingboro, NJ, Godwin Moore of Rome, GA, Clarence Moore of Columbus, GA, and Nyrone Moore of Macon, GA.
George also leaves three sisters; Patricia Haynes of Milwaukee, WI, Darlene McCarthy of Raleigh, NC, and Demetris Roberts of Hudson, FL.
His grandchildren are: Jeffrey Moore, Shantalay Moore, Latoya Boyd, Ashley Boyd, Christopher Barnes and Jalen Barnes.
George's great grandchildren are: Jasmine Moore, Hassan Moore, Kali Moore, Jaki Moore, Imani Jones, Amauri Moore, and Daymere Moore.
He also leaves twenty-four nieces and nephews, as well as many other relatives and friends.
