Jeraldine "Dean" Davenport was born January 19, 1934 in Plymouth, North Carolina to Joseph Johnson and Iona Rowson Johnson.  She reunited with our heavenly Father on Monday, May 30, 2016.

Jeraldine attended J.J. Clemmons High School in Roper, NC.  She worked in several different capacities throughout her lifetime and was a long-time employee of Hamilton Beach.

She was a devoted wife and mother who absolutely adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Jeraldine believed in growing her own fruits and vegetables; and enjoyed canning and preserving them as well. She was a practical woman and nothing pleased her more than cooking for her family.  To all who knew Dean, she left an everlasting mark.

Jeraldine was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Davenport of Roper, NC; two sisters, Alberta House of Akron, OH and Pearl King of Mt. Vernon, NY; four brothers, Joseph Johnson of Roper, NC; Carnegie Johnson of Yonkers, NY; Artis Johnson, and Rudolph Johnson, both of Roper, NC; two grandchildren, Joyce Fields-Green of Plymouth, NC, and Keith Fields of Winston-Salem, NC.

She is survived by five loving children; Chevelle Fields, Albert Lewis, Jr. (Luenetta), and Carl Lewis (Audrey), all of Plymouth, NC; Sharon Lewis of Mt. Vernon, NY and Joseph Lewis (Jerette) of Jacksonville, FL.

Her step-children are: Ulysses Lewis, and Regina Lewis, both of New Orleans, LA.

Jeraldine leaves three sisters; Vera Johnson of Mt. Vernon, NY; Evelyn Webb of Mississippi; Mary Catherine Combs (Robert) of Chesapeake, VA and two brothers, O'Conel Johnson of Roper, NC and Wade Johnson of Lexington, NC.

Her memories will be forever cherished by twenty-five grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
