Mrs. Jerelene Norman, daughter of the late Elwood and Ellen Nora Hedgebeth Norman, was born February 9, 1925 in Washington County. She departed this life on July 23, 2106 at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville, NC.
Jerelene joined Shiloh Church of Christ at an early age and remained there until her demise. She attended Washington County Public Schools.
Jerelene was a homemaker, and loved canning, quilting, fishing, and cooking for the community. She loved cooking biscuits for her "city" grandchildren, a good listener, and always gave us good positive advice. She always opened her doors to people during the old union meetings.
Sixty one years age, she married the late Charlie Martin Norman, and nine children were born to his union. Jerelene was a loving mother, grandchildren, and a great friend to many. She treated everyone with respect.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: two sons- James Norman (Patrica)- Bronx, NY., Ivan Norman- Plymouth, NC., six daughters- Margie Harrell (Samuel)- Edenton, NC., Odessa White (Norman)- Columbia, SC., Roberta Anthony (Aristotle)- Queens, NY., Bettie Hodges- Trenton, NJ., Virgie Norman (Daniel)- Roper, NC., Loreta Norman- Trenton, NJ.; one brother-Elwood Norman- Portsmouth, VA.; eighteen grandchildren, fifty great grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, Alylise, Othela, and Marie Norman; two brothers-in-law, Herman and Jim Norman.
She was preceded in death by one son- Jerry (Gloristeen), one grandson- Kenyon Hodges, one great grandson- Mahzi Thompson, three sisters- Odessa, Rona, Gertrude and nine brothers- Benjamin, Purnell, Haywood, Victor, Wilbur, Johnson, Andrew and John.
Funeral services were 2:00PM Saturday July 30, 2016 at Shiloh Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) with Bishop Daniel Gilliam, Pastor, officiating. Burial followed in Shiloh Memorial Garden Cemetery,
