Jerry Lee Lucas, Jr. was born on December 29,1939 in Plymouth, NC. He was the son of the late Jerry Lee Lucas, Sr. and the late Ollie Mae Blount Lucas. He departed this life in the early morning hours of July 18, 2012 at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville, NC.
He received his education in the Washington County Public Schools. At an early age he joined First Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Jerry, also known as "Bro" to family and friends, enjoyed working as a farmer for twenty years, retiring in 1987. Earlier, he was a factory worker in New York City where he met his wife of thirty-eight years, Margaret Jenkins Lucas. They then relocated to Plymouth, NC where they raised their family of five children.
He leaves to cherish his memory his faithful and devoted wife- Margaret J. Lucas- Plymouth, three sons- James E. Bunch- Roper, NC, Melvin L. Bunch- Brooklyn, NY, and Bobby L. Bunch, two daughters- Theresa A. Lucas- Covington, GA., and Mollie S. Lucas- Rocky Mount, NC., two sisters- Glynda Lucas Shannonhouse- Roper, NC., Mary Ann Lucas- Brooklyn, NY., two brothers- William E. Lucas and Thurman McCullough,two aunts- Ann Lucas and Martha Hyman both of Plymouth, twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a host of nieces , nephews, cousins, and friends.
