Jerry Carnell Satchell was born September 25, 1952 in Washington County. He was the son of Thelma Satchell and the late Nathaniel "Bay" Downing. He passed away on May 22, 2013 in Washington County.

Jerry was raised in Roper, NC. and attended Washington County Union School where he graduated. After graduation, Jerry attended trade school to study as a Forest Technician for Weyerhauser. After working several years for Weyerhauser, he became a forklift operator for the Plymouth Garment Company where he remained until the company closed and he retired.

Jerry was a devoted member of the St. Luke's/ St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Roper, assuming duties of Usher and Steward.

Jerry was very close to his paternal grandmother, Bertha Downing and his uncle Herbert "Noon" Downing. He maintained a strong love for his mother and brothers.

Jerry spent his last years at Roanoke Landing Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where he was liked by staff and fellow patients.

Jerry is survived by his mother- Thelma Satchell; brothers- Gregory Satchell and James Satchell; three aunts- Annie Ruth Clark, Byrd Lee Downing and Myrtle Simpson; two uncles- Doc Downing and Richard Satchell, Jr.; and a host of cousins and friends.

Funeral services were 3:00PM May 25, 2013 at St. Luke's/ St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Roper with Reverend Henry C. Burdick III, officiating. Burial followed in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Roper.
