Obituary

Lannie James Moore was born March 3, 1940. She was one of six children to Delzora James and Leonard Boston. She entered into eternal life on October 26, 2014.

She attended church at an early age and learned the power of God's word, forgiveness and never ending love. When she was quite young, she learned of a place called Heaven, She vowed that she wanted to go there and she lived a life of devotion to God and her family.

Lannie married George Moore, Jr. on May 25, 1958 and from their union they were blessed with five children. Lannie and George formed a bond that would sustain any and all trials and tribulations and always seem to come through any fire or storm stronger than before... they did this for 57 years of marriage and loved each other to the very last moment that they had breath.

Lannie did not have any lettered degrees after her name, but knew much more than many who do. Her knowledge of life matters came to her simply, but was so difficult for many to grasp; she knew that the heart is the soul's conscience and that nothing but love should dwell in and come out her heart. Lannie had such an artistic acumen and was always a giver, never a taker. Lannie was small in stature, but she had unseen strength that could not be matched; she was not a soldier, but fought many battles in he life by going over, under, around or through whatever it took for a particular battle. She would simply state "it was only with the help of the Lord that I made it through."

Lannie leaves to cherish her memory; sons- Anthony Moore and Derrick Moore both of Raleigh, NC.; daughters- Stephanie Moore- Raleigh, NC, Laura Boyd (Walter)- Aurora, NC., Josie Barnes (Chris)- Bowie, MD., sisters- Louise Postell, Verna Mae Collins, Erma Lee Ruffin, Celestine Bell; grandchildren-Jeffrey Moore (Amanda),Shantalay Moore (Adam), Latoya Boyd, Ashley Boyd, Christopher Barnes, Jalen Barnes; great grandchildren- Jasmine Moore, Hassan Moore, Kali Moore, Jaki Moore, Amauri Moore, Daymere Moore; great great-grandchildren- Trustin Griffin and Imani Jones.

Funeral services were 2:00PM October 29, 2014 at Promised Land Church of Christ with Bishop Anthony Terrell officiating. Burial followed in Promised Land Church of Christ Cemetery
