Leander Simmons, was born December 11, 1967. He departed this life on March 11, 2015. at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC. Lee was born in Plymouth,NC and received his education through the Washington County School System. Lee was truly an amazing individual who showed genuine love to his family and friends. He was known to speak exactly what was on his mind and what was in his heart. "Phace", as he was affectionately known, leaves to cherish his memories and life, his parents Alvin and Mary Cooperand Clarence and Brenda Simmons all of Plymouth, NC. Two sons: Justin and Dustin Johnson of Plymouth, NC. Two daughters: Jessica Betts and his heart, Jalexia Moore of Plymouth,NC. He leaves three grandchildren: Zanterria, Marquzion, and Jordan, and a Grandmother Patience Cooper of Plymouth,NC. Three Brothers: Carlton Downing of Greenville, NC, Chad Barnes (Crystal) of Plymouth,NC and Michael Blackmon of Raleigh,NC. Four sisters: Clarice Patrick (Tyrone),Shana Barnes,Karen Hudson (Marvin), Kathy Nelson (Joey) all of Plymouth,NC. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers Hattie Downing and Thelma Simmons, his brothers Harry Downing and Thurman Blount and his daughter Amber Johnson.

He also leaves a very devoted Fiance', Michelle Gee who has been by his side constantly since his health declined. She has not only been his right hand but has been a wonderful asset to his entire family. We truly don't know what we would have done without her. He leaves a host of aunts,uncles, nephews,nieces, cousins, friends, and homeboys.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 16, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Elder Wilbert Jackson, Jr. Pastor, officiating. Burial followed at Toodle's Cemetery, Plymouth, NC.
