Obituary

Lester Lee Hill was born May 15, 1953 to the late Isaiah Hill and Annie Watson Hill. He went to meet our heavenly father at Select Specialty Hospital in Durham, NC on Wednesday January 21, 2015.

Lee, as he was affectionately known, attended Washington County Schools and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1975. He joined Union Chapel Church of Christ as a child and then moved his membership to Bethel Church of Christ where he served on the Usher Board. He later became a founding member of New Bethel Church of Christ(Disciples of Christ) where he served as a member of the Trustee Board, Kitchen Staff, Pastor Aide, and on the Usher Board. He also served as Janitor, Head Cook, and Usher Board Member of the Washington Norfolk District Assembly.

Lee was no stranger to hard work. He was employed as a Grain Elevator Operator for Tyson, Packer for Fisherman Seafood in Wanchese, employed by Toodle's Funeral Home and was a Cafeteria Worker and Custodian for Washington County Schools until he became disabled.

He met and married his soul mate Brenda Gilliam on August 17, 1985. They had a loving relationship and to this union four children were born. Lee loved his family and friends dearly. He cared about others more than himself. His hobbies were fishing, cooking, and most of all, spoiling his grandchildren.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 28 years, Brenda Gilliam Hill; daughters- Belinda Gilliam and Jasmine Hill both of Roper; sons- Kendale Hill- Raleigh, NC., Mycheal Hill- Roper; Godchildren- Christopher Gilliam, Adrian Chesson, Isaiah Chesson; one brother- Russell Watson- New York; sisters- Telora Simpson- Durham, Vinita Hill- Plymouth; grandchildren- Lynda and Kaden Gilliam; Godmother- Eva C. Norman; mother-in-law- Laura C. McCray; two brothers-in-law; six sisters-in-law; fifteen aunts; eight uncles and a wealth of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends whom he loved dearly.

Lee was preceded in death by five brothers, Matthew, Asbury, Thomas, Jonathan and Jimmie Hill and one sister Ella Hill Hudson.

Funeral services were 2:00PM Saturday January 31, 2015 at New Bethel Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) with Bishop Johnson Hazel, Pastor, officiating, Burial followed in New Bethel Church Cemetery.
