Obituary

Lindberg Pitt, was born on July 29, 1928. He was the second child and only son of the late John Eddie and Lula Mae Pitt of Bethel, NC. He departed this life to move into his heavenly mansion on October 9, 2014.

Lindberg started at an early age working the farm and learning carpentry so he could fix things. If something was broke and he couldn't fix it, the it couldn't be fixed.

Lindberg was known by many as "Bird and Dick". He moved to Plymouth, NC and started his journey working at Georgia Pacific. He later gained employment with Weyerhaeuser before retiring in 1994 after 29 years of service.

He was married the late Bertha Moore Pitt on November 18, 1953 and to this union 10 children were born, but together they reared 12 children.

Lindberg leaves to honor his memory: three sons; Ray(Terry) Pitt and Ricky Pitt both of Plymouth, NC, Robert(Jacqueline) Pitt of Columbia, SC, eight daughters; Sheila Gilliam, Brenda Downing, and Helena Walker all of Plymouth, NC, Joanne Smith of Belhaven, NC, Maxine Jenkins of Greenville, NC, Carolyn Pitt, Geraldine Pitt, and Francine Pitt all of Washington, DC, a brother-in-law; Robert(Mary) Moore of GA, 35 grandchildren, a host of great and great-great grandchildren, a special friend; Mr. Emanuel Small, Jr., and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by ten children, and two sisters; Carrie Mae Pitt and Lula Mae Pitt Johnson.

Funeral services were 1:00 pm Thursday October 16, 2014 at New Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Harry L. White ~ Pastor/Officiating. Burial followed in Ellis Lee Cemetery.
