Ms. Lois Ann Spence was born April 11, 1959 in Beaufort County, NC to the late Edith Mae Spence and the late Aaron "Jimmy" Cooper. She enjoyed life to the fullest until departing this earthly home on February 18, 2014 at her place of residence on Sandhill in Plymouth, NC.
Lois attended the Washington County Schools. She fellowshipped with several different churches in the community, enjoying the music, but most importantly to the word. Lois worked many factory jobs and restaurants throughout her life, taking pride in all she did.
Lois was very well-known and loved in the community. She could frequently be found sitting alongside a river bank doing what she loved to do, fish. She also enjoyed going to the sweepstakes spending a little money in hopes of winning big money. Lois was a very outspoken person, sweet but straight forward. There was never a dull moment with her around, for she loved a good time with good people. Whenever there was a party she was right there ready to TURN UP, (as she would say), with few drinks and a cigarette in her hand. Lois was going to enjoy herself whether you joined in or not. Her signature gift of giving people nicknames, the laughter, joking around, telling you what's on her mind but yet having fun, is something about her that will NEVER be forgotten.
She leaves to cherish her memories; two daughters: Robin Spence and Kisha Spence of Plymouth, NC; one grandson: Rodney Spence of Plymouth, NC; five granddaughters: Jhaliyah Thomas, Jerra Thomas, Kate'yah Spence, Keshona Spence, and Khyla Brooks all of Plymouth, NC; her siblings: Bobby Boyd (Bernice) of Cleveland, Ohio, Willie Boyd (Dorothy), Anthony Spence (Camille), and Al Cooper (Mary) of Plymouth, NC; Joseph Watson of Suffolk, VA; Milton Watson of Brooklyn, NY; Glaye Ann Watson of Washington, NC; Eva Griffin (Kermit) of Philadelphia, PA; and Hilda Adams of Philadelphia, PA. Special niece's more like her daughters: Chyvette Boyd, Shantoinette Spence; Special nephews: Carlton Williams, Jesse Laster; special friends: Hennis Cherry, Nancy Thomas, Hilda Walker, and two she thought of as sons: Christopher (CT) Toodle and Michael Armstrong Jr.; A very special long term friend: Charles Peele; and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, other relatives and friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her mother, Edith Mae Spence; her father "Jim" Cooper.
Funeral services were 2:00PM March 1, 2014 at Spring Green Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) with Elder Stanley Hicks, pastor, Elder Elmer Cooper, officiating. Burial followed in Spruill Eternal Rest Cemetery (Sandhill).
