Luevera Anthony's Obituary
Luevera Anthony was born in Creswell, North Carolina on February 4, 1918 to the late Henry Vance and Matilda McCleese Spruill; she died peacefully at her home on October 8, 2014.
She moved to Roper, NC with her parents and siblings, Maynard, Earl, Cecil, Joel, Stelburn, Stella, and Surethia, all of whom have preceded her in death. She joined Disciples Church of Christ at an early age. There, she acted as a Steward and in her later years, was designated as Mother of the church.
Luevera married the late Deacon Aristotle B. Anthony, Sr., and to this union, seven children were born. After the death of her husband, she took on the daily family responsibilities which he had managed and got her driver's license on her first attempt at age seventy-three.
Mrs. Anthony loved things of beauty and produced colorful plants and flowers in her garden; pottery items which she created are now treasured items in her children's homes. Her greatest joy was quilting; each one was skillfully hand-crafted with eye-catching designs. She also loved to travel, even sailing the seas to various Caribbean Islands and Bermuda.
Luevera leaves to cherish her memory: her children; Sherlene Fuller of Chesapeake, VA; Merlene A. Anderson of Brooklyn, NY; Gerlene Campbell of Roper, NC; Vera Marsh of Brooklyn, NY; Sondra Jean Brown of Virginia Beach, VA; Aristotle Anthony of Queens, NY, and Maxine Anthony of Brooklyn, NY.
Mrs. Anthony is also survived by eight grandchildren: William Anderson, Jr, Nanette Campbell, and Kenneth Marsh, all of Brooklyn, NY; Tammy Hall of Charlotte, NC; Anthony Marsh of Jacksonville, FL; Charles Scott Anthony of Portsmouth, VA; Maureen Rogers of Lawrenceville, GA and Alan Brown of Jersey City, NJ, seven great-grandchildren; Taquanna, Lawana, Camden, Tyler, Tamara, Amanda, and Victoria; four great-great grandchildren; Tashana, Landon, Marquis, and Jaden, in addition to many nieces, nephews and cousins.
