Mrs. Lula Mae Bell Johnson was born January 23, 1941 to the late Samuel Bell,Sr. and Lula Slade Bell in Washington County. She died January 13, 2018 at home.
She joined Spring Green Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) at an early age.
"Lula Mae" as she was affectionately called attended the public schools of Washington County. She was a homemaker and loved to cook. She would cook her "Big Sunday Dinners" and everybody was invited to sit at her table.
In 1957 she married James Johnson and from that union eight children were born. Lula Mae was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three sons: James "Spanky" Johnson, Jr., William Johnson, Michael Johnson- all of Plymouth; three daughters: Brenda (Chris) Gilliam, Lisa Johnson both of Plymouth, Shirley Barnes- Baltimore, MD.; thirty-eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two sisters- Katie Mae (Curtis) Davis, Annie Small both of Plymouth; one brother- Ernest "Bob Ray" Bell- Plymouth; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were 1:00PM Saturday January 20, 2018 at Spring Green Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) with Elder Emmitt Godette, officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson Family Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6:00PM to 7:30PM Friday at Spring Green Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ).
