Mother Mable C. Swain was born May 2, 1926 in Windsor, NC. She was one of the twin daughters to the late William Henry and Annie P. Swain. Mother Swain entered into her eternal rest on February 8, 2013 at Washington County Hospital, Plymouth.
She attended Bertie County Public School system. After leaving Bertie County, she later moved to Plymouth, NC where she met and married her late husband, Clinton Pittman, Jr. To this union no children were born. Later in life, Mother Mable moved to Tyrell County where she was employed at First Citizen Bank. There she maintained the landscape around the bank. the bank was beautiful with flowers and greenery. she loved working outside in her garden too.
In everything Mother Mable did there was a smile upon her face. Later, when her health declined, she moved back to Plymouth with her loving family. It was then she decided to join Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ where she could worship and enjoy the service of the Lord. Mother Mable loved the Lord and she appreciated he had done for her.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, daughter- Mable Purkett; six sisters- Lettie L. Pittman- Plymouth, Addie Winborne, Martha Watson, Mary Speller, Clara Louise Swain- all of Windsor, NC., Lena Swain- Atlantic City, NJ.; five grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, other relatives and many special friends from Columbia, NC and surrounding areas.
Funeral services were held 11:00AM Friday February 15, 2013 at Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ with Elder Wilburt Jaackson, officiating. Burial followed in Toodle's Cemetery.
