Mandy Elizabeth Norman Midgett, 92, of Roper, NC accepted God's hand August 5, 2024 at ECU Health Medical Center-Beaufort Campus, Washington, NC.

Funeral services will be 12:00PM Saturday August 17, 2024 at Shiloh Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) with Bishop Daniel Gilliam, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Memorial Garden Cemetery.

The body will be placed in church one hour prior to service for viewing.

Mandy was born December 8, 1931 to the late Beulah Chesson Norman. She was raised by her grandparents, Lowery  "Jack" Norman, Sr., and Lilly Bess Norman.

Mandy was educated in Washington County Public Schools. At an early age, Mandy joined Shiloh Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) and later became a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, NY.  In 1974, she returned to Shiloh Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) where she served as an Usher and a member of the Kitchen Committee.

Mandy was an active member of Silver Queen Chapter #667 Order of the Eastern Star, PHA for 38 years. She served as Secretary, Associate Matron, and Worthy Matron. Mandy was a dedicated member who attended meetings faithfully until her health declined. She was also a member of Heroines of Jericho, East Court #10, Daughter of Isis, Rofelt Parsha Court #10, and The Golden Circle.

Mandy worked as a caregiver and a housekeeper in Mt. Vernon, NY, for several years. She returned to Roper, NC, and continued her career at Plymouth Garment Company. Mandy opened Mandy's Childcare in her home and took care of numerous kids.

Mandy was preceded in death by her daughter, Delores Ann (Pop) Swain; two sisters- Gladys Chesson and Diane Wesley; nine uncles- Charlie, Joe Henry, Edison, Lowery Jr., Jack, Lawrence, Elmer, Thurman, and Jimmy Norman.

Mandy leaves to cherish many memories to her devoted husband of 66 years, James  "Frank" Midgett, of Roper, NC; four grandsons- Ivan Swain- Mt Vernon, NY., Michael Swain, Sr. (Shanice)- Fredericksburg, VA,. Rodney Swain (Veronica)- Mt. Vernon, NY., Guy Swain (Keisha)- Fredericksburg, VA., nine great-grandchildren- Lyric, Jazzmin-Guy, Taji, MaKayla, Harmoni, Michael Jr., Symphoni, Chyanne, and Fine'; one great-great grandchild- Leilani; one stepdaughter- Alice Byrd- Philadelphia, PA., one brother- John Norman- Cambridge, MD., three sisters- Cora Williams (Carol)- Vienna, MD., Inell Parks- Fruitland, MD., Hannah Latham- Cambridge, MD., one uncle- Herman Norman- Mt. Vernon, NY., two godsons- George Barden and Israel Barden- Mt. Vernon, NY., special neighbors- Emory and Janice Norman- Roper, NC. and a host or other relatives.
