Mary Gladys Jones White, daughter of the late Robert Melvin Jones, Sr. and the late Mildred B. Jones, was born on January 26, 1950 in Martin County. She entered into eternal rest on June 30, 2013.

She grew up in Martin County and graduated from E.J. Hayes High School in 1969. Mary also attended Johnson C. Smith College in Salisbury, NC and worked as a Head Start Teacher with Martin County Community Action in Williamston, NC. Mary worked as a cashier at Food Lion in Williamston, NC while at the same time,  she cared for her ailing father and mother.

Mary joined Back Swamp Church of Christ at an early age.  She served  with the Usher ministry for many years, and was always willing to serve or participate in programs.

Mary was united in marriage to Eddie Frank White and to this union, two sons were born - Tony and Michael. She was a loving mother, kind friend, and role model to the neighborhood. She touched the lives of people in many positive ways.

Her memories are truly cherished by her sons, Tony Terraine White (Tawanah) of Williamston, NC, and Michael Ray White (Shalesa Boone) of Greenville, NC; grandchildren, Monique, Maia, Michael Jr., Zaria, Rachel, and Marquis; sister, Barbara Reed (Joseph) of Aurora, NC; brother, Robert Jones, Jr. (Cynthia) of Brown Mills, NJ; special friends of the family, Mrs. Malaika White, and Ruth Spruill, as well as many nieces, nephews, children, family and friends.
