Mary Magalene Moore Rascoe was born October 12, 1926 in Plymouth, NC to the late Joe and Lilllian Moore. She peacefully slept away from this earthly life on June 11, 2016 at the Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.
She was educated in Washington County schools and spent most of her youth helping her mother as a laundress.
Mary was joined in matrimony to the late Tee Arthur Rascoe, Sr. of Windsor, NC. From their union, eleven children were born. She was preceded in death by four children, two siblings and three grandchildren.
She was a devoted mother and the "godmother" to many neighborhood children who may have needed a meal, a hug or just a word of encouragement. Mary was a kind spirit and devout Christian who loved gospel music.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who offered unconditional love. Mary treated everyone with kindness and fairness. When she had visitors, she greeted them at her door with open arms.
Mary leaves to cherish her memories; eleven children, Ronald (Bernice), Lillian Hazel Pittman (Freddie), Mary Cox (Barney), Joseph (Mamie), and Jasper (Ann), all of Plymouth, NC; Tee Arthur, Jr. (Mary-deceased) of Greensboro, NC; John Edward (Joanna) of Windsor, NC, James Lewis (Vernetta) of Jamesville, NC; Lynda Colbert (Jeff), and Keith of Raleigh, NC; and Lynn of Rocky Mount, NC.
She is survived by two sisters; Catherine Kelley of Newark, NJ and Ann McCall-Robinson of Plymouth, NC; forty-two grandchildren, seventy-one great grandchildren, fourteen great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
