Melvin Watts was born June 26, 1953 in Washington County. He was the son of the late Bosie Barnes and Mable Hassell Barnes. He departed this earthly life on December 22, 2016 in Raleigh, NC under the care of his loving daughter, Michelle.
He attended the schools of of Washington County. He later joined the US Army and received his certification in Auto Mechanics and Carpentry.
He was raised in a devout Christian home that valued family and independence. As a youth under the parental guidance of his parents and grandparents , he joined and attended Mt. Hebron AME Zion Church in Plymouth, NC.
Melvin affectionately known as "Bro. B" enjoyed being with family, friends, and living life to the absolute fullest. He was well known to the community as the "Handy Man".
Melvin resided in Greenville, NC and was employed as an Apartment Complex Manager. He assumed various responsibilities within the complex. In his later years he enjoyed spending quality time with his daughter Michelle and his grandson, Malik.
Melvin leaves to cherish his many memories his devoted and loving daughter, Michelle Levon, grandson; Malik both of Raleigh, NC; siblings; Rev. Robert Watts (Ada), Roper, NC; Dr. Ernestine Gee (Webster) Staten Island, NY; Marvin Watts, Hampton, VA; William Barnes, Hampton, VA; Melvine Moore, Fla; Marvel Barnes, Norfolk, VA; Mary Barnes, Norfolk, VA; Alice Clagon (Bobby), Plymouth, NC; one aunt, Laura Thompson, Tucson, AZ, and ahost of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mamie Lee Barnes and a brother Ernest Watts.
