Obituary

On October 11, 1987 in Washington County, a little life illuminated the heaven and brought forth Mondale Latrae' Armstrong, Sr., the son of Michael and Carrie Armstrong of Plymouth, North Carolina. On December 5, 2013, God called Mondale to eternal rest in Houston, Texas.

Mondale received his formal education in Washington County, and was a graduate of Plymouth High School. He was formerly employed by Washington County Town of Plymouth Water Department in Plymouth, NC. He was currently employed by Municipal District Service in Houston, Texas.

Mondale was a devoted and loving son, brother, father, uncle, friend, and neighbor, who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He always wore a smile on his face, and never complained. Mondale led a very active life. He played basketball with the Washington County Recreation Center, Plymouth High School, and also the church league. He was the head rapper of M.A.P. BOYZ musical group, and also played an important part in ARMSTRONG BOYZ RACING.

Mondale leaves to cherish the memories of his life: His parents Minister Michael and Carrie Armstrong of the home; Two Children: Mondale Armstrong Jr. and My'Yanah Armstrong (Stephanye Norman) of Greenville, NC; Three brothers: Michael Armstrong, Marcus Armstrong, and Devante' Thomas of Plymouth, NC; Two sisters: Mechelle Armstrong and Michaela Armstrong of Plymouth, NC; One Grandmother Mable Purkett (William) of Plymouth, NC; One Grandfather Eli Moore of Plymouth, NC; Five Aunts: Carrie Chesson (Roger), Annie Williams (Handy), Katie Cooper, Carolyn Cooper (Elmer), and Tonya Swart (Cliff) of Plymouth, NC; Three Uncles: Don Armstrong (Ida), Larry Boston (Debra), and Ernest Armstrong of Plymouth, NC; His Godmother: Linda (Spruill) Arnold of Plymouth, NC. A special family: The Anges of Plymouth, NC; A special friend: Cinchonia Chesson of Houston, TX; Special friends from Houston, TX; His Father Figure: Henry Jackson of Plymouth, NC; His Uncle Figure: Carl Ruffin of Salisbury, NC; and a host of Great Aunts and Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends. Mondale was preceded in death by his Grandparents Ernest and Lillie Armstrong, Great Grandmother Mable Swain, Aunt Vickie Brown, and Uncle Charles Swain.

Funeral services were 11:00AM December 12, 2013 at Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ with Elder Wilber Jackson, pastor, Bishop John Armstrong, officiating.
Burial followed in Spruill Eternal Rest Cemetery (Sandhill).
