Mrs. Neldia Austin, 94, passed peacefully on Thursday September 9, 2021 at Workmen's Circle Nursing Home in Bronx, NY.

Mrs. Neldia was born in Plymouth, NC on July 17, 1927 to the late James and Irene Bentley Mercer. "Nell or Aunt Nell" as she was affectionately called to all that knew her, would often find children in her company as she loved to be around them.

During her formative years, "Nell" attended Plymouth High Colored High School where she was a star basketball player. After high school she moved to New York, but the love of her life called her back so she didn't stay long. "Nell" and Ted Austin were married for 58 years until his death on February 9, 2008. "Nell" love the Lord at a young age she joined New Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She supported her church in every way she could. She was faithful member of the choir, kitchen committee, and Ladies Auxiliary. "Nell loved her church.

"Nell" leaves to mourn her loving sister, Joyce M. White and her niece Natasha White both of Bronx, NY, great nephew Jaylen White of Bronx, NY, first cousins Maime Evans of Bronx, NY, Dorothy Green of Mt. Vernon, NY, Phillip Bentley of Bowie, MD, Jeanette Jerry of Dover, DE, Fannie Bentley, of Plymouth, NC and a host of family members and friends.

Walk Through Visitation will be held from 11am-1pm on Saturday September 18, 2021 at New Chapel Baptist Church in Plymouth, NC.

Funeral Service will start at 1pm immediately after visitation.

Pastor Harry White will be officiating.
