Randy Donnell James, Sr. was born in Plymouth, NC ON July 28, 1965, the son of Otha Lee & Elsie Mae James. He was the fifth of six brothers and one sister. He joined Long Ridge Missionary Baptist Church at an age and most recently was a member at Harvest Church. Randy was a 1983 graduate of Plymouth High School. H attended NC Central University and Martin Community College. He worked at Winn Dixie as a Manager for 10 years. Randy decided to join the NC Department of Public Safety as a Correctional Officer at Tyrrell Prison Work Farm where he worked for six years. He was promoted to Sergeant at Bertie Correctional Institution, then to Correctional Assistant Unit Manager. He also was a member of the PERT team. He was employed with the Department of Public Safety for over 15 years. He loved his job and co-workers. When he was not following his sons in their sports activities you could find him at work. Randy was a caring, loving and supportive father, son, and brother. He was loved by all that knew him, but no one loved him more than his sons. In addition to his parents, he is survived by four sons, Roderick (Martha) James of El Paso, TX ; Reggie (Kim) James of Greenville, NC; Tyler James of Durham, NC ; Randy James Jr. of Plymouth, NC, and one granddaughter Princess Marie James. Three step sons Chris Dixon, Marvin Howard, and Deion Howard. Five brother Irish (Cynthia) James of Chesapeake, VA; Stanley (Wysonza) James of Plymouth NC, Dannie (Cynthia of Hinesville, GA; Timothy (Monica) James of Woodbridge, VA; one sister Vanessa Johnson of Virginia Beach, VA; two uncles and aunts, two great aunts and one great uncle, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
