Reather "Reda" Mae Spruill Brooks was born March 17, 1936 to the late Leamond and Lossie Spruill. She began her heavenly journey on June 13, 2012.

"Reda" attended and graduated school in Washington County. Reather was an outstanding basketball player. On January 15, 1955 she married the late Wilbur Lee Brooks. To this union ten children were born, one who died at birth. Reather was preceded in death by her twin sister Aletha Spruill, husband Wilbur Lee Brooks, daughters Janice Harris and Cassandra Brooks and grandson Juan Moore, Jr.

Reather joined New Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. While at New Chapel she sang in the choir, was a member of the Ladies Auxilary, and Kitchen Committee. She was employed for Washington County Board of Education for 33 years.

She leaves to cherish her memory sons- Ronald Dee Brooks, Ricky Brooks, Gerald Brooks; daughters- Cynthia Mair, Jean Brooks and Carla Brooks, sisters- Lossie Downing, Annie Lou Spruill and Melba Mason, brother- Hillary Spruill, 24 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
