Richard Sandre Rhodes, Jr. affectionately known as "Gooie" was born February 4, 1956 in Roper, NC. He was the son of the late Richard S. Rhodes, Sr. and Margaret Patrick Rhodes. He passed away on February 5, 2013.

"Gooie" grew up in Roper and attended Washington County Schools. He was a Sanitation Worker for the Town of Plymouth.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Margaret Rhodes; and his sister Mary R. Clark.

Richard leaves to cherish his memory daughters- Pricillia Ann Rhodes- Robersonville, NC and Bertha Faye Spruill- Greensboro, NC; sisters- Lula R. Spruill, Eva R. Burnette, Debrey R. Boston all of Plymouth, Glennie R. Patrick- Hampton, VA; brother- Ricky L. Rhodes- Hampton, VA; brother-in-law- Jimmie Clark, Sr.; two grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services were held February 16, 2013 at Temple of Christ Church with Reverend Avery Barnes officiating. Burial followed in Rhodes Cemetery, Woodlawn Road Roper, NC.
