Richard Charles Sample's Obituary
Richard Charles Sample was born January 24, 1926 in New York City, NY to the late Charles and Ida Sample. He departed this life on February 7, 2013.
He was educated in the New York Schools System through high school. After graduation, he joined the United States Navy, serving from 1944-1946 and from 1951-1955. Later, Richard was employed by the New York City Transit Authority, where he worked until his retirement after twenty years of service.
Richard married Sophia C. Sample in September 1972. Their union lasted until her death in 1997.
Richard moved to Plymouth in 1984, leaving behind in New York, a cousin, Marian Spooner and a life long friend, Herman Suriel.
He is survived by his step-daughter, Helena Clay of Atlanta, GA; two nieces; Clarissa Singletary of Winterville, NC and June Twine of Baltimore, MD as well as multiple cousins and close friends.
