Robert Alonzo Rowson was born June 10, 1936 in Bronx, New York to the late Abraham and Angeline (Weston) Rowson. He passed away peacefully February 28, 2017.
Robert attended the Church of Our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith on Morrison Place in Mt. Vernon, NY., where his father was pastor and overseer.
Robert attended school in Mt. Vernon, NY., and furthered his education at Howard University in Washington, D.C.
Robert worked for A. Rowson Asphalt Paving Company owned by his father. He continued working construction when he relocated upstate to Pulham County and started Bob's Paving Company.
Due to health issues, in 1996 Robert and Lovella decided to move to a warmer climate and settled in Roper, NC. He continued in the construction business working for PLT Construction Company.
Robert was a mon of many talents and stayed busy. He was a self taught free handed artist and used his unique skills to make signs and draw pictues if outdoor scenery and animals.
Robert was a member of the Senior Citizens Center in Plymouth, where he sang on the choir, taught sudoko puzzle classes at the center and held suduko & cryto-quote lasses once a week at the Plymouth Library. He also attended the Senior Olympics Games. Robert enjoyed sharing his biblical knowledge with others.
Robert leaves to cherish his memories his daughter Christine Stalling, brother- James Frank Rowson (Mary)- Waumauma, Fla., sisters- Angeline Butler- Yorktown Heights, NY., Marjorie Rowson- Tampa, Fla., JoAnn Lynch- Roper, NC; two grandsons, two great granddaughters, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and fiends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lovella (Huffman) Rowson, daughter Brenda Kay Rowson, brothers Abraham Rowson, Jr. and Wilson Rowson, Sr., sister Janie Delgado, three sister-in-laws and five brother-in-laws.
Funeral services were held at Toodle's Chapel and burial followed in Rowson Family Cemetery.
