May 6, 1943-June 29, 2020

Mr. Roy Lee "Pookie" Taylor of Warrenton, NC, peacefully passed away on June 29, 2020 at UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC. He was born May 6, 1943 to the late Carrie Dell Allen and Willie Taylor Sr. in Plymouth, NC. Roy attended and graduated from Washington County Union High, class of 1962. In his earlier years, he was a member of Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ and was employed by Weyerhaeuser where he held a position at the plywood mill. He was known for being a sharp dresser and always being well groomed. He enjoyed music and loved to always sing a tune.

He leaves to cherish in his memory one sister, Constance Brown (Johnny Mack Brown), of Roper, NC and one brother, Dannis Taylor (Shenell Taylor), of Greenville, NC. Four brothers preceded him in death: Vannie Lee Taylor, Kimmie Kay Taylor, Willie Arthur Taylor Jr. and Sherman Lee Taylor. He also leaves to cherish in his memory a host of nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held at Toodles Funeral Home on Saturday, July 4th from 6:00pm-7:00pm.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 5th at the 4th Street Cemetery at 1:00pm, with Reverend Alonzo Sutton officiating.
