Mrs. Sarah Bell McCray Spruill was born on September 14, 1916 in Washington County to the late Ben McCray and Barbara Woods McCray. She departed this life on October 13, 2012 at Grace Healthcare, Franklin, TN.

She was joined in holy matrimony to Rev. Lee Cola Spruill on May 1, 1938 and God blessed this union with two sons and one daughter. She was a woman of God who was faithful in her commitments, particularly the Usher Board at First Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member. She was president of the Usher Board in the early 1950's and after retiring from her position in 1955 she continued to serve. She was an usher of over 46 years.

Preceding her in death were her husband for 45 years, her parents and her sisters Viola G Blount and Maggie L. Downing. She leaves to cherish her memories sons- Willie L. Spruill- Franklin, TN., Rev. Samuel F. Spruill- Troy, MI., daughter- Doretha Spruill Yancey- Mt Vernon, NY., brother- Elder James T. McCray- Roper, NC., daughters-in-law- Shirley J. Spruill- Franklin, TN., Irene Boone Spruill- Troy, MI., eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held 2:00PM Sunday October 21, 2012 with Rev. Samuel Earl Spruill, eulogist. Burial followed First Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
