Shelia Lynette Burnett was born August 8, 1952 to the late Monnie and Bessie Whitehurst in Washington County. She passed away on March 6, 2017.

At an early age, Shelia joined Uniontown Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ0. She was a faithful and dutiful worker in the church and served as an Usher. Her other duties in the church were Treasurer of the Sick Committee worker. She was a born again believer of Jesus Christ. Shelia was a graduate of Martin County School district and worked in Washington County School system for many years.

Shelia leaves to cherish her memory, a loving husband- Sonny Burnett; two sons- Kelvin Whitehurst (Vinetta)- Raleigh, NC, Dwayne Burnett- Jamesville, NC; one daughter- Tasha Burnett- Raleigh, NC; one brother- Freddie Whitehurst (Flora)- Jamesville, NC; three sisters- Evelyn Cameron and Pamela Smithwick of Jamesville, NC, Portia Basnight (Jeffrie)- Raleigh, NC; two granddaughters, three grandsons and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were 2:00PM March 11, 2017 at Uniontown Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ ) with Chief Elder Barry James, officiating. Burial followed in Uniontown Church Cemetery.
