Obituary

Terry Michael Leathers II known as "Mikey" to family and friends was born on Tuesday May 28, 1991 at Chowan County Hospital in Edenton, NC. Terry departed this life on Thursday September 26, 2013 in Elizabeth City, NC.

While matriculating through the Washington County School system, Terry enjoyed playing basketball and football. While attending Washington County Union School, Terry received MVP for football and Rookie of the Year for basketball and football. Terry was proud to have been part of the Plymouth High Football team in 2008 as they were named State Champions in football. in 2010,
Terry graduated from Creswell High School and received a scholarship from the Future Farmers of America. Terry was a senior at Elizabeth City State University majoring in Mass Communications.

Terry loved talking about the Lord and spreading the Gospel around the campus of ECSU. He was kind, giving, conscious about eating, and above all prayed for people daily.

One month before his demise, Terry rededicated his life to Christ and was baptized at Shiloh Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ). Terry was searching for the true word of God. When interpretations of God's Word confronted him, he would call upon his pastor Vice Bishop Gilliam for scriptural guidance.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories, parents- Alfreda and Terry Leathers- Roper, NC.; brother- Brandon Norman- Chesapeake, VA.; sister- Princeton Charmaine Leathers- Greensboro, NC.; grandparents- Alvania V. and Jimmie Foxx Norman- Roper, NC., Dorothy L. Brown- Williamston, NC.; six uncles- Cronton Norman- Roper, NC., Beuford Norman (Lisa)- Rocky Mount, NC., Mitchell W. Leathers, Melvin D. Brown (Pat), Marvin W. Brown (Adrian) all of Raleigh, NC, Alton M. Leathers- Greenville, NC; two aunts- Jeanette Price (Lester)- Plymouth, NC., Davoren K. Brown (Jayson)- Robersonville, NC.; three great uncles- Lawrence Norman, Herman Norman, Elder Elmer Norman (Rusha); seven great aunts- Bettie Clark, Mamie Leathers, Edna Brown, Louise Andrewa (John), Mable Norman, Cassie Lewis, Shirley McCray (Calvin); close friend Augustine Norman and a host of cousins and friends.

Funeral services were 2:00PM Monday October 7, 2013 at Eastern North Carolina Assembly Headquarters, Roper, NC with Vice Bishop Daniel Gilliam officiating. Burial followed in Shiloh Memorial Gardens (Pea Ridge Community).
