Theophilus "Gee" Whitehead, Sr. was born September 28, 1944 in Washington County, to the late Ellen and Rex Whitehead.  On the evening of August 6, 2013, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend entered into an eternal and peaceful rest at Washington County Hospital in Plymouth, NC.

He attended Washington County Schools, and joined New Chapel Baptist Church at an early age.

"Gee" worked with Weyerhaeuser Paper Mill for thirty-three years before retiring in 1995 and starting his rental property business.

He married Arnita Purvis in 2003, and to this union, one child was born.

Theophilus leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife, Arnita, of the home; seventeen children, Andre Downing (Valerie) and Kimberly Whitehead of Plymouth, NC; Jennifer Lipford, Danielle Perry (Michael), Theophilus Whitehead, Jr. (Vicki), Steven Whitehead, Tammie Goss and Timothy Goss, all of Williamston, NC; Anthony Whitehead (Alisa) of Washington, NC; Timothy Barnes and Derrick Barnes of New York, Rodney Davis of Texas, Omedro Davis (Khiva) of Pennsylvania; and Tylen Purvis (Rayna), and Rushaad Purvis of Ahoskie, NC, Shakita Purvis and Theophilus Whitehead, III, also of the home.

He also leaves three sisters; Myrtle Melvin of Roselle, NJ, Malethia Askew of Portsmouth, VA, and Shirley Barrow of Plymouth, NC; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
