Thomas "Bud" Alfonza Cherry was born in Washington County, Plymouth, North Carolina to the late William and Leora Cherry on May 5, 1946. He departed this life on March 3, 2013 at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville, NC.
He joined Long Ridge Missionary Baptist Church at a very early age and remained a faithful member until his death. He was employed with Arrants Logging and Roanoke Resources for many years prior to his retirement. He was married to Blanche Cherry on January 24, 1998.
He leaves to cherish his memories: wife- Blanche Cherry of the home; daughters- Lisa Cherry and Christie McMillian both of Durham, NC.; step-daughters- Sara Barnes- Hinesville, GA., Shelia Matthews- Plymouth, NC., Robbin Norman- Plymouth, NC., Katrina Whitley- Plymouth, NC., Wyconda Toon- Smithfield, NC.; sisters- Earmon Goodman- VA., Theresa Davenport- Plymouth, NC., Geraldine Davenport- Plymouth, NC., Mona Downing- FLA., Wilhelmina Blount- Plymouth, NC., Quinterlene Bowen- Plymouth, NC.; four sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, three aunts, two uncles, thirty grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one son- Jethro Cherry, brothers- William Cherry, Christopher Cherry, Robert Cherry, Arlander Cherry, sisters- Theaster Herbert and Hilda Cooley.
Funeral services were held 1:00PM Saturday March 9, 2013 at Long Ridge Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Doctor General James officiating. Burial followed in Moore-McNair Cemetery.
