Obituary

Thurman "Honey" Norman, Sr. was born April 28, 1938 to the late Lowery D. Norman and Lilly Bess Norman. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior November 13, 2012 at his home on Backwoods Road, Roper, NC.

At an early age, Thurman joined Shiloh Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ). He started tenant farming at an early age. Later he worked for Mackey Sawmill before working with Weyerhauser for 35 years before he retired to spend time with family.

Thurman was always full of joy and had many friends. His great reward was receiving the Lord as his personal Savior.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Lucinda M. Norman, sons- Thurman Norman, Jr. and Charles D. Norman- both of Roper, NC., daughters- Ella McCleese- Roper, NC., Evelyn Norman- Hyattsville, MD., Gloria Fuller- Roper, NC., Arenita Norman- Roper,NC., Cynthia Norman and Janice Norman- both of Plymouth, NC., brothers- Joe Henry Norman, Jimmy Norman, Lawrence Norman, Elmer Norman- all of Roper, NC., Herman Norman- Mt. Vernon, NY., sister- Mandy Midgett- Roper, NC., and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one sister- Beulah N. Howard and four brothers- Edison, Jack, Charlie and Lowery Norman.

Funeral services were held Saturday November 17, 2012 at Shiloh Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) with Vice Bishop Daniel Gilliam, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in Shiloh Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
