Verna Mae Whitaker, 94, of Jamesville, NC, (Piney Woods Community) passed away June 16, 2026, at ECU Health Roanoke Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie, NC. Ms. Whitaker was a former nurse assistant who loved caring for her patients. Her survivors include three daughters: Ora Parker and Sharon Whitaker both of Jamesville, NC., Stephanie Gee of Plymouth, NC., two sons: Felton Whitaker of Summerville, SC and Stephen Whitaker of Suffolk, VA.

Funeral services will be 2:00PM Saturday June 20, 2026, at Uniontown Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) Church with Chief Barry James serving as eulogist. Burial will follow in Uniontown Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) Cemetery.
