Obituary

Welton "Snook" Arnold, Sr. was born July 20, 1918 to Guy and Annie Lamb Arnold. He went home to rest on December 25, 2012 at Roanoke Landing Nursing Rehabilitaton Center.

A true Disciple of Christ who loved his church, he would tell everyone, "I been born again. God got me in his hands. I ain't got nothing to worry about." He loved to play the guitar and sing which was a real comfort to him along with his daily prayers.

He married Eva Hopkins Arnold, who preceded him in death. From this union three children were born: Welton Jr., Willie Lee and Ann Eva.

At the age of 47, he gave his life to God. He joined Union Chapel Church where he remained a faithful member until his death. He worked on the railroad for many years. He then became a machine operator at Weyerhaeuser.

Welton leaves to cherish his memory sons- Willie L. Arnold (Mary)- Brooklyn, NY; Larry D. Norman (Teresa)- Roper; daughters- Ann Peck (Jerry)- Newport News, VA., Carolyn Armstrong (Glenn)- Hempstead, NY.; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, a devoted niece Shelia Gills (Arnold) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Welton, Jr.

Funeral services were held 2:00PM Monday December 31, 2012 at Union Chapel Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) with Elder Livert Spencer, Pastor, and Vice Bishop Daniel Gilliam, officiating. Burial followed in Stallings Cemetery (Macedonia).
