Obituary

William Arthur Jones (affectionately known as "King") was born on January 14, 1948 in Washington County to the late Annie Cox and Earnest Jones. King's life journey ended on January 22, 2014 at the tender age of 66. William was educated in Washington County Public Schools. Although he graduated from Plymouth High School in 1966, he always considered himself to be a part of the "PROUD" Class of 1955 from Washington County Union School. Prior to his health declining, he attended all of his class reunions and events with the Class of 1966 from Washington County Union School.


William was reared in a loving and devoted Christian home. As a young man, he joined Guiding Star Free Will Baptist Church in Plymouth, NC. In 1967 William was drafted into the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1970 as Sargent William Jones. After his discharge from the Army, William was hired at Weyerhaeuser Paper Company of Plymouth, NC for 42 years. King was a beloved husband, proud father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and cousin. If there was an example of a dedicated loving man, it is truly King Jones. He was a member of the Carthagenia Masonic Lodge #38 F & AM (PHA) and Golden Crown Lodge #253 I.B.P.O. Elks of the World, both of Plymouth, NC. His hobbies included fishing, supporting Plymouth High School football and basketball teams, and playing computer games. He was also a major and committed Pittsburg Steelers fan.


King leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife June B. Jones; two daughters, Shatori Jones of Rocky Mt. VA and Dr. YoRonda James (Nigel) of Greensboro, NC; one son Brian Blount of Plymouth, NC; three grandchildren, Wykhera, Ashiyah, and Jamiyah; three brothers, Budley "BT" Jones (Jeanette) of Newbern, NC, John Jones (Hazel) of Greensboro, NC, and Earnest Jones (Ora Lee) of Plymouth, NC; three sisters, Missionary Emma J. Horton of Plymouth, NC, Alberta Keyes (Lewelyn) of Greenville, NC and Lavern Carr (Bennie) of Plymouth, NC and his niece that was raised as his sister, Celestine Jones of Brooklyn, NY; There is a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Siblings that preceded him in death: Sudie L. Moore, Donald Jones, Lillian E. Cathy and Erma B. Blackwell.

Funeral services were 12:00PM January 27, 2014 at Pentecostal Temple Church of God In Christ with Elder Wilbert Jackson, Jr., pastor, Elder Benjamin James, officiating, Elder James Horton, Jr., eulogist. Burial followed in Toodle's Cemetery.
