Obituary

Willie Mae Clagon Staton was born March 15, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Willie Clagon and Maggie Webb Clagon. She departed this earthly life on January 29, 2014 at the age of 84 at Vidant Medical Center. She was married to Clarence Staton for over fifty years who preceded her in death. Willie Mae was known for her heartfelt smiles. Whenever she was greeted by someone, she always had that beautiful smile.

Willie Mae attended the Washington County Public Schools. She was a great homemaker, a loving mother, sister, aunt, and much more. She loved cooking, sewing, reading her bible and sight-seeing. In addition to the above, she loved her church, her children and grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons; Willie Moore (Alice) of Greenville, NC and Herbert Moore (Violet) of Plymouth, NC; one daughter, Ruth Randolph of the home; four brothers, Leamon Clagon, William McCray and Buster McCray all of Plymouth, NC, and Haywood McCray Jr. of Merry Hill, NC. Three sisters, Pauline Clagon, Elmo Clagon of the home and Mable McCray of Plymouth, NC; 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren, Ernest Clagon, a very special friend of the family and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Funeral services were 2:00PM February 7, 2014 at Spring Green Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) with Elder Stanley Hicks, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in Toodle's Cemetery.
