Willie Earl Parker, Sr. was born September 17, 1935 in Edgecombe County to the late Lucy Parker Houchins and the late James Coney. He departed this life on Sunday November 3, 2013 at Washington county Hospital, Plymouth, NC.
Willie was educated in Edgecombe county public schools. he was joined in holy matrimony with the late Ada Parker on August 6, 1955. They were blessed with three sons and three daughters.
Willie moved to Washington, D.C. in 1958 where he earned a certificate degree from the Armstrong Technical Institute as a Professional Floor Installer. He pursued this career until his retirement. He joined True Baptist Church in Northeast, Washington, D.C. in 1972. Willie was a faithful and active member of his church as a Deacon for many years.
After the passing of his first wife, Willie married Dollie Parker on October 8, 1992. They were blessed with a son. Later Willie and his family moved to Plymouth, NC. Willie was a great provider for his family and he had a strong will to help others and had a tremendous sense of humor. He mentored many family members and friends in his trade of professional floor installer.
Willie loved to watch baseball especially the world series and was a true and dedicated Redskins fan. He will always be remembered by his generous personality and his appearance for having good taste in hats and suits.
Willie leaves to cherish his memory his wife- Dollie Parker- Plymouth, NC; daughters- Mavis Judd-Catonsville, MD., Teresa Clark- Washington, D.C., Patricia Hunter- Lanham, MD., Ada Johnson- Washington, D.C., step-daughter- Aneka Gibson- Plymouth, NC., sons- Elvis Linwood Parker- Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Rickey Parker- Mt. Rainier, MD., Willie Parker, Jr.- Atlanta, Ga., Desmond Parker- Plymouth, NC.; sisters- Margaret Sue Trinity- Stewart, VA., Mary Lee Tatum- Stewart, VA.; and a host of grandchildren, great grand children, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Sisters Annie Lee Parker, Christina Reynolds, Vivian Grays and brother George Houchins preceded him in death.
Funeral services were 11:00AM Saturday November 9, 2013 at Toodle's Chapel with Pastor Robert Aydlett of New Cedar Branch Missionary Baptist Church, Camden, NC., officiating. Burial followed in Ellis Lee Cemetery, Plymouth.
